Dear Mario,

The Digital Youth Consortium and the Municipality of Rome have the pleasure of inviting you to participate at the international Workshop and Conference associated with the Award Ceremony of the Global Junior Challenge 2004 (www.gjc.it), the global contest of ICT and education projects.

The entire set of GJC events takes place in Rome between 16th-19th November and include: conference "Advancing Towards 21st Century Education," and "Building Sustainable Enterprises for e-Inclusion and Gender Equality," as well as finalist projects exhibition, financial forum advising finalist projects from poor areas of the world, e-inclusion workshop, award ceremony, large musical concert. There will also be twinned-schools activities and discussion for future joint efforts. In the attached provisional programme you will find your name in two places:

… The Workshop on "e-Inclusion and Education - Let's Multiply the Effectiveness of Our Actions by Working Together." Parallel Working Area 3. Free Software for e-Inclusion and Education. Tuesday 16th November. … The Conference Session - "Free Software for Education and e-Inclusion," Thursday 18th November.

Your attendance will also create an excellent opportunity to discuss the possibility to establish an alliance or partnership between your free-software educational activities, and those emerging in the City of Rome with the support of the Municipality.

The organizers would cover the costs of your travel (economy class) and four-night stay in a Hotel. Of course, you are most welcome to join all activities of the GJC 2004, including the GJC Award Ceremony on the morning of 19th November 2004.

Since we are finalizing the programme, I would be most grateful if you would be able to reply at your earliest convenience (not later than 30th September). If you decide to accept, please reply to me with copy to Alfa International at the following email address: <gjc2004@alfa-international.it>. You will then be contacted for travel and accommodation arrangements.

Looking forward to your reply,

All the best,

Prof. Alfonso Molina

P.S. I have talked to Mirta about the possibility of a live connection with President Lula in the morning of the Award Ceremony and this would be great and we would make the arrangements to establish the live connection to the Campidoglio City Hall. Let me know the result of your enquiry regarding Lula's agenda.
